    Typical Behavior

I live in a subdivision close to the interstate. Today I went out back to get our 2 toy poodles and discovered a rottweiler in the back yard with my poodles and other 2 smaller dogs. I was rather scared but she appears to be well mannered.

I went out and watched them/ played fetch a few hrs later as she was still here. They all run to the fence when there's commotion, but she made no attempt to jump out or go anywhere all day. The only way she got in is by jumping the 4' fence or someone dumped her. I've heard rottweilers are territorial. Would it be characteristic of one to jump a fence and just hang out with other dogs and make no attempt to leave?

Rottweilers are generally only territorial of their own property (i.e. their home) but if they are well-trained they understand it is their owner's property and whoever he/she wants on is allowed to be, whether the dog likes it or not. In typical Rottweiler behavior, though, if the owner accepts the stranger, so does the dog.

Rottweilers are not territorial of others property, such as yours. It sounds like she jumped over because of your dogs and is enjoying the company! Rottweilers really love their owners and their home, but definitely this girl could've gotten out and is feeling quite comfortable here. It would be unfortunate if she got dumped! Try taking her to a local vet and have her scanned for a microchip if there's no tag.

    Good luck!

It sounds like the Rottie is a younger female. The adult females rarely leave their home or their owners. I hope you find her owners and her home. She seems a friendly and playful dog
